Toshiko Pinckney

Director of Operations

Ms. Pinckney’s philosophy about life and education is that “we are not what we go through; that is only one chapter of our story”.

Toshiko has been the director at McCabe for over five years, managing a program with a capacity to serve 64 children from age two months to five. She has been in the field of education for over 23 years and holds both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Education, certifications as a director, specialization in trauma and resilience and is currently earning a certification in Early Learning Coaching from the University of Florida.

Ms. Pinckney grew up in the southside community of St. Petersburg; a thriving point of educators, medical professionals, and activists. Mrs. Pinckney is a strong presence in this and the educational community, making herself available to join various committees and participating in advocacy efforts to promote her work at McCabe and find ways to serve her families better.

She is driven by her childhood experience growing up within a village mentality where everyone worked together to take care of one another. She sees a shift in that reality in recent years through an evolution where children are getting lost and families are detached from supporting one another. She is passionate about finding that connection again and being a supportive voice to bring back those traditions of her youth.

McCabe has been a well-known part of the community for many years and has been the location for our early learning center program for nine years at the heart of the southside community. The teachers and staff of McCabe pride themselves on being a high-quality educational program and on maintaining the highly coveted National Education Association for Young Children (NAEYC) certification.
